Shrewsbury - Jane May loved music and it was not restricted to her being an active member and voice of the choir at her much-loved Saint Anne's Parish. If Jane were alive today, she might explain that life is like music: some high notes, some low notes…but always a beautiful song! Jane also welcomed any and every opportunity throughout her years to return to the familiar parquet floors at the well-known Mosely-on-the-Charles in Dedham to dance to her much-loved oldies and goodies. She loved life and cherished her family!
Jane passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 4, 2022 surrounded by family. She was 91.
Jane P. Reinhardt was born in Boston on July 8, 1931 a daughter of the late George and Marion (Tatro) Reinhardt. Raised in West Roxbury and later Brookline she was a graduate of Brookline High School where she was head drum majorette. She later earned an Associate degree from Fisher Junior College. She married Brookline native Joseph M. May on October 12, 1952 in Saint Joseph's Church in Needham. They made Shrewsbury their home in 1962 and Joseph passed on August 12, 1984.
Never should the role of mother be underestimated or under appreciated. In addition to raising six children, Jane enjoyed her work as medical assistant for Fallon Healthcare for over twenty years before retiring.
Her home on Roman Drive for nearly 35 years was the epicenter for social gatherings. Jane willingly and religiously hosted Sunday dinners and the countless pool parties for family, friends and neighbors that were always fun and memorable. You knew the time of the year as she always decorated her home for each holiday. An active parishioner of Saint Anne's Parish she was a familiar face at the Fr. Smith Center, volunteering as a Catechist, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and in various other capacities. The St Anne's community was where Jane enjoyed longtime friendships with the staff, clergy, and parishioners. Apart from her time at St. Anne's, Jane enjoyed the time-out and time-away when able to do ceramics with her neighborhood friends, and as her children began their own families, she enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society. In later years, she and Bruce Card enjoyed each other's companionship and friendship, simple dinners, family gatherings, nights out or travels to desired destinations or simply singing together in the choir.
She leaves her children, Michael May (Tricia) of Boylston, Therese 'Terry' Ross (Vincent) of Staunton, VA, Steven May (Tracy) of Destin, FL, David May (Christine) of Matthews, NC, Mary May of Shrewsbury and Patrick May (Linda) of Westfield, IN; her sister, Susan Sherman of Mansfield; her grandchildren, Katie May, Jennifer Goorman (Bryan), Mackenzie May, Maggie May, Patrick May, Jacqueline Koulisis (fiancé Erik Zorge), Jessica Koulisis, Paul Koulisis, Shawna Koulisis, Joseph May (Arielle), Sean May, Sydney May, Meghan Clithero (Keith), Courtney Small (Shane), Lauren Vanderlip (Josh), Rachel May, Stephanie Lucchese, Alexandria Georgiadis (Dimos), Jourdan May, and Thomas May; 25 great-grandchildren; her longtime companion, Bruce Card of Shrewsbury; nieces & nephews.
