Dennisport – Janet L. Donahue, of Dennisport, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was 52.
Janet was born in Cambridge on December 14, 1959, a daughter of the late John F. and Mary P. (Webb) Donahue, and moved to Waltham when she was four. Until recently moving to Dennisport she had been a lifelong Waltham resident.
She was a 1977 graduate of Waltham High School and attended Massachusetts Bay and Middlesex Community colleges. She had worked as a senior sales administrator for Siemens Medical Systems. She was a lifelong fan of Boston's sports teams and was an accomplished planner of special events at work and for family. Janet will long be remembered by those whose paths she crossed as being warm, loving, kind and hospitable.
Janet was also a clever crafter whose skill at cross-stitch and knitting were an important part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Our Lady's Church in Waltham. She loved being at the Cape where her excursions to the beach with her beloved nieces and nephews became known as 'Camp Janet'.
She leaves her siblings, Joyce E. Gianfelice of Waltham, John F. Donahue, II and his wife, Kimberlee, of Bristol, Connecticut and Laura M. Urquhart and her husband, Alex, of Lebanon, New Hampshire; her nieces and nephews, Michael B. Gianfelice, Christine E. Donahue, Julianne Turan, Patricia R. Donahue, Elizabeth A. and Barrett A. Urquhart and her grand-niece, Jeyda R. Turan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Janet's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, August 9th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
