Worcester - Mrs. Lucille J. 'Janet' (Dubé) Gustafson, of Worcester, formerly of Ayer and Waltham, died Friday, July 12, 2013 in The Christopher House. She was 91.
Janet was born September 3, 1921 in Waltham a daughter of the late Omer and Victorine (Mercier) Dubé. She graduated from Waltham High School and was a longtime Waltham resident before moving to Ayer and lastly to Worcester in 2006.
Janet worked at the former Waltham Watch Factory and later as a sales clerk the former Rich's Department Store.
She loved the ocean and sailboats and would sit for hours on the seawall in Rockport watching both. She loved her annual trips to Florida and vacations to Canada. She enjoyed patriotic music, Big Band music and sounds of Frank Sinatra, Jerry Vale and Johnny Mathis. Other interests included music boxes, bird watching and playing with her grandchildren.
Her family offers words of thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of both The Christopher House and JHC Hospice.
Her husband of 49 years, Harold A. Gustafson died in October 24, 1993 and she was also predeceased by her siblings Norman, Paul and Phillip Dubé and Rita Scafidi.
She leaves her children Judith A. Gustafson of Auburn, Stephen P. Gustafson of Shirley, Vicki J. Jaarsma and her husband, Arthur, of Clinton, Mark P. Gustafson of Shirley, William H. Gustafson and his friend, Jill Fazzi, of Ayer; also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Janet's life by gathering to visit on Tuesday, July 16th, at 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by her Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
