Janet M. (Ellis) Hoffman

Waltham – Mrs. Janet M. (Ellis) Hoffman, of Waltham, died Friday, May 8, 2015 in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was 72.

Janet was born in Waltham on March 29, 1943 and was raised in Weston. She was a graduate of Weston High School and Burdett College in Boston. Janet lived in Arlington before moving to Waltham forty years ago.

Until her retirement she worked as a client representative for Ellis Insurance Agency in Natick for twenty-one years. Janet was a longtime parishioner of Saint Mary's Church in Waltham where she was a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher and an organizer of the Bingo games for fifteen years.

Janet loved puzzles, knitting, cards, and frequent visits to Castle Island in South Boston.

She leaves her daughters, Stephanie A. Sabatino and her husband, Chris, of Canton, Karen M. Mazzeo and her husband, Anthony, of Waltham and Judith Celeste Welch and her husband, Michael, of Natick; her sister, Deborah A. Pacheco of Pepperell; her brother, Edward Ellis of Sarasota, Florida; her grandchildren, Nicole and Joseph Sabatino, Kevin, Sabrina and CJ Mazzeo, Derek and Andrew Welch; her step-grandchildren, Mark, Michael and Caitlyn Mazzeo; her step-great-grandchildren, Caroline, Alanna and Zariah Mazzeo; her step-father, William Aronson, of Ocala, Florida and many nieces and nephews including William and Scott Pacheco.

Janet was a daughter of the late Francis Ellis and Celeste (Orsini) (Ellis) Aronson and the step-great-grandmother of the late Matthew Mazzeo.

Family and friends will honor and remember Janet's life by gathering to visit from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 13th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
