Mrs. Janice M. (Black) Sheahan, of Waltham and Englewood, Florida, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in her winter home in Englewood. She was 70.
Janice was born in Cambridge on December 3, 1941, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Corcoran) Black. Raised and educated in Cambridge she had lived in Waltham for many years, making Florida her home during the winter months.
Janice was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She worked as an administrative assistant at Sancta Maria Hospital in Cambridge for 15 years. For the last 17 years she worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
An avid gardener, Janice loved to take long walks. She was a member of two bridge clubs in Florida and had recently been named captain of her bowling team.
She was the sister of the late John Black.
Janice is survived by her husband, Paul D. Sheahan; her children, Alanna Shone and her husband, Kevin, of Lynnfield, Brenda Schuler of Charlotte NC, Daniel Sheahan and his wife, Shannon, of Holden, and Brian Sheahan and his wife, Rachael, of Billerica; her grandchildren, Harrison, Cameron, Nikole, Zachary, Griffin, Cassidy, Andrew, Nicholas, Brendan, and Logan; her brother, David Black of Cambridge; her sister, Geraldine Perreault of Bellingham and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Janice's life by gathering for her calling hours on Sunday, December 11th, from 2-6 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Monday at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
