Waltham – Mrs. Jean G. (Meegan) Finfrock, of Waltham, formerly of Natick and Belmont, died on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 86.
Born on May 1, 1932 in Boston she was the daughter of the late Albert and Irene (Casey) Meegan. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of Waltham High School. She then graduated from Regis College. Professionally she enjoyed a long career with Liberty Mutual Insurance where she was a supervisor in its sales division.
On her 22nd birthday she would receive the first of three gifts that would change her life. She married George E. Finfrock on May 1, 1954 at Saint Jude's Church in Waltham. Prior to his passing in 2002, George and Jean loved to travel together. The other two gifts were the birth of her daughters. For Jean, her hobby really was family. Not only spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also learning about the lineage of her parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. She enjoyed genealogy, researching on the computer and documenting her findings in beautifully designed scrapbooks. Early years of marriage were in Belmont before a move to Natick to raise their daughters and eventually a return home to her native Waltham.
She leaves her two daughters, Katherine MacKenzie and her husband Stephen, and Jane Osborn and her husband Bruce, both of Natick; her two grandchildren, Michelle (MacKenzie) Mathews and her husband, Timothy, of Longmont, CO, and Elizabeth (Osborn) Smith and her husband, Anthony, of Natick, and two great-grandchildren, Rhys Mathews and Johnathan Smith.; also survived by nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jean's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, August 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
