Jean M. (Davini) Jensen

Waltham – Mrs. Jean M. (Davini) Jensen, of Waltham, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham.

Jean was born in Boston, a daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Nichols) Davini, and lived in Waltham for most of her life. Until her retirement she worked for a number of years at the Star Market store on Lexington Street.

She will long be remembered for her devotion to and participation with the auxiliary of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 and the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10334, both in Waltham. Together with her late husband, retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major Robert L. Jensen, and long after his death on June 18, 1989, Jean never forgot the veterans who served our nation from every generation. She was patriotic and good and cared for others steadily, without reservation and with compassion.

Jean belonged to Christ Church on Main Street where she received her spiritual nourishment and where she had been a lifelong member. In addition she enjoyed an occasional trip to Foxwoods with friends and of course followed all of the Boston sports teams.

She was the mother of the late Joan C. Gallagher and mother-in-law of the late Joseph Gallagher and leaves her grandchildren, Lisa J. Gallagher-Puccia of Tewksbury, Robert J. Gallagher of Bellingham and Michael R. Gallagher of Leominster; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was also the sister of the late James A. Davini and Madeline G. Rizzitano.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jean's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, February 1st from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning in Christ Church, 750 Main Street, Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
