Jean B. O'Neill

Rockport – Mrs. Jean B. (Murphy) O'Neill, of Rockport, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the de Rham Hospice Home in Cambridge. She was 81.
Jean was born in Waltham on November 28, 1931, a daughter of the late John and Mary (McDermott) Murphy, and had been a Waltham resident before moving to Rockport in 1998. Until her retirement Jean worked as a secretary for the Waltham Public Schools at Central Junior High School, South Junior High School and at Waltham High School. She enjoyed gardening around her home and belonged to the Rockport Garden Club.
The wife of the late Leo T. O'Neill, Sr., she leaves her children, Leo T. O'Neill, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Tewksbury, Karen J. Traynor of Rockport, Joyce B. O'Neill and her husband, Larry Martin, of Scottsdale, Arizona and Elaine M. O'Neill and her husband, Paul Chaet, of Wayland; her grandchildren, Lt. Kevin O'Neill, USAF and his wife, Allison, Kathleen O'Neill, Rafael Perez, Briana Traynor, Jessica, David, Logan and Ava Chaet; her brothers and sisters, Bernard Murphy of Waltham, John 'Jack' Murphy of Framingham, Patricia Reid of Plymouth, James Murphy of Winthrop, Paul Murphy of Waltham, Mary Murphy and Margaret Murphy, both of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was also a sister of the late L/CPL Michael Murphy, USMC and Robert Murphy.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held for family and friends at the Westin Hotel, 70 Third Avenue, Waltham on Friday, February 15th, from 3 to 6 p.m.
