Sterling - Jean Reynolds, of Sterling, a Waltham native, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She was 79.
Jean was born in Waltham a daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine (Rankin) Reynolds. She attended Saint Charles High School in Waltham and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in East Cambridge. She earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's College in Rutland, Vermont. Jean entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Rutland and finished her work as a religious sister with the Missionary Sisters of Charity in the Bronx, New York. In 1988 she left the religious order and became a school teacher in the Alhambra School District in Phoenix, Arizona for over 17 years, returning to Massachusetts in 2007.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph L. Reynolds, Marion Reynolds C.S.J., Barbara A. Donovan and Ann T. Skehan.
Jean leaves her siblings, Patricia J. McKinnon of Leominster, John T. Reynolds of Worcester, Eleanor A. Devlin of Framingham, Bernice R. Brown of Scituate, and Catherine E. Bacon of Aguanga, California and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jean's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday June 22nd from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
