Waltham Mrs. Jean C. (Sullivan) Salvucci, of Waltham, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 82. Jean was born in Arlington on November 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Lamborghini) Sullivan, where she graduated from Arlington High School. After that Jean attended Boston University. During World War II she worked on the Manhattan Project at the Watertown Arsenal. Jean moved to Waltham when she married Joseph P. Salvucci on November 11, 1950 and had been a resident since. Until her retirement she worked for twenty years for the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities as the manager of the historic Lyman Estate in Waltham where she hosted the gala opening night reception for the Regal Players Summer Theatre. Always active in the community, Jean was past president of the Waltham and Massachusetts Federation of Junior Womens Clubs and had been a longtime volunteer and past president of the Waltham Hospital Associates. She was a founding member of the Lamplighters singing group in Waltham and had been the soloist at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham for many years. She was also a member of the Piety Corner Club and the Kiwanis Club, both of Waltham. She and her husband enjoyed many of their later years wintering in Florida, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joe, she leaves her children, Peter E. Salvucci and his wife, Susan, of Milford and Carolyn J. Salvucci of Waltham; her grandchildren, Lauren Dwyer and her husband, Wes, of Hopkinton, Matthew Salvucci of Somersworth, New Hampshire and Scott Salvucci of Milford; her great-grandchildren, Ava Rose and Megan Dwyer and many nieces and nephews. Jean was also the mother of the late Joseph P. Salvucci, Jr. and sister of the late Virginia Predmore. Family and friends will honor and remember Jeans life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
