Jean (Pagliazzo) Vellante of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly, on April 28, 2024 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family. She was 75.
Born in Boston on June 3, 1948, Jean was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Menna) Pagliazzo. She grew up in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School in 1967. Jean embarked on a career in payroll accounting and later pursued higher education, earning her associate's degree in 1993 after which she worked at Babson College for 20 years until retirement.
For 28 years, Jean and her husband Fred enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their beach home in Gloucester where they loved entertaining; the highlight being their yearly anticipated 4th of July BBQ. For the past decade, they spent a portion of the winter with family in Naples, Florida. Jean loved to attend art exhibits and theatre performances; she was a supporter of the North Shore Music Theatre for many years as well as several charitable organizations. One of the blessings she cherished most in life was being Nana to her grandchildren. She loved shopping for and surprising her family with thoughtful gifts “just because” and always made the holidays special with her extra touches.
Jean was the loving mother of the late Michael J. Vellante and the sister of the late Anthony Pagliazzo and Salvatore Pagliazzo, Jr.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Fred McNally; her daughter Lynne Vellante Parker (and her husband Craig) of Billerica; her son Anthony Vellante of Waltham; her stepsons Keith McNally and Michael McNally (and his wife Joanne) of Palmer; and her grandchildren Rachel, Jacklyn, Abigail and Nathaniel. In addition, she is survived by many cherished extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jean’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial in Calvary cemetery will be private.
