Waltham – Mrs. Jeanette E. (Lombardo) Giles, of Waltham, died in her home on Monday, March 10, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was 83.
Jeanette was born in Concord on March 7, 1931, a daughter of the late Charles and Vincenza (Prestipino). On April 26, 1959 she married James M. Giles and the pair settled in Waltham. She was artistic by nature and enjoyed playing the piano and oil painting. She loved music and had been a member of the Waltham Ballroom Dance Club. Her favorite type of music was Irish and she enjoyed attending numerous Celtic Thunder concerts. She loved to spend time with her family, whether it was at home in Waltham or at their cottage in Maine. Later in life she was so happy to be able to visit Italy and Ireland where she was able to meet relatives from both sides of the family.
Besides her husband Jim, she leaves her children, Patrick J. Giles of Chelmsford, Maureen L. Tiberio and her spouse, Joseph, of Waltham, Nancy E. Giles of Waltham and Lynn M. Giles and her spouse, Susan Lavoie, of Waltham; her grandchildren, Kerri Doze, Lauren Dos Reis, Amy Pierce, Sara Felix, Michael Tiberio and Emily Tiberio; her sister, Virginia Whitney of Maynard; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was also the mother of the late Linda M. Giles and sister of the late Michael Lombardo, Charles Lombardo, Carmella Lombardo, Maria Giombetti, Lee McGarry and Rose Wallace.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jeanette's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, March 13th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning when her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
