Weston – Mrs. Jeanne Marie (Kerwin) Finnerty, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Waltham Crossings in Waltham where she resided for the past six years. She was a long time resident of Belmont and then spent over 40 years living in Weston.
Born in North Attleboro and raised in Brookline, Mrs. Finnerty was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Stuart) Kerwin. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard W. Finnerty, Sr., who died in 1993. Gerry was the love of Jeanne's life. They met as neighbors when they were both teens in the 1930's. They married in 1944 and enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage together.
Mrs. Finnerty loved spending her time with family and close friends, celebrating special occasions and entertaining at the family home in Weston as well as at their family owned restaurants: Le Petit Gourmet in Cambridge, Finnerty's Lobster and Steak House in Gloucester and Finnerty's Country Squire in Wayland.
Mrs. Finnerty enjoyed tending to her perennial gardens and caring for her beloved pets. She and her husband Gerry enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends at The Weston Golf Club in Weston, Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester and the Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida.
She will forever be remembered for her natural beauty and warm smile.
Mrs. Finnerty is survived by her daughter, Laurie Jean Thompson and her husband, Ronald, of Concord and her son, Gerard W. 'Rod' Finnerty, Jr. and his wife, Deborah (Moore) of Waltham. She doted over her six grandchildren, Ronald Thompson of Haverhill, Greg Thompson and his wife, Heidi, of Acton, Gerard W. Finnerty, III of Newton, Shannon Finnerty of Deweyville, Utah, Julie Fernandez and her husband, Gil, of San Diego, California and Kelley Burwood and her husband, Jonathan, of Scituate, and four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Christopher Thompson, Chloe Finnerty and Riley Jeanne Burwood.
Mrs. Finnerty was pre-deceased by her sister, Joan Coleman and her husband, Martin, formerly of Weston and also leaves her sister Diane Quirk and her husband, William, of Natick and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jeanne's life by gathering on Monday, October 6th, in St. Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
