Waltham - Miss Jeanne Ann Mahoney, of Waltham, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 86.
Jeanne was born in Waltham on February 24, 1929, a daughter of the late John J. and Mary A. (Noonan) Mahoney, Sr. She was a lifelong Waltham resident and graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1949. She then trained at Lawrence Quigley Memorial Hospital in Chelsea.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Dr. C. Benjamin Fuller Infirmary in Waltham, Brighton Marine Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury and lastly at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea for over 30 years.
Jeanne's faith and devotion to her church were always very important and at the forefront of her daily life. She was an active member of St. Mary's Church where she served as sacristan, Eucharistic minister, parish council member, St. Mary's Sodality member, Mothers Club volunteer, choir member and longtime volunteer at bingo.
Her family offers words of thanks to the staff of Maristhill for the wonderful care they extended to Jeanne during her stay there.
She was predeceased by her siblings, John J. Mahoney, Jr., Justine Collura, Paul E. Mahoney and Frances M. Casey.
She leaves her sister, M. Dorothy Katin of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins including her primary caregivers, William and Donna Laswell of Waltham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jeanne's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, March 2nd from 4 to 6 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
