Waltham – Mrs. Jeannette Aline (Bourque) McCarthy, of Waltham, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington. She was 81.
Jeannette was born in Waltham on July 27, 1931, a daughter of the late Aurele and Amanda (Bourgeois) Bourque. She was a life-long Waltham resident and had worked as a waitress at Brandeis University until her retirement. Always staying busy she enjoyed knitting, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her husband Charles R. McCarthy, Sr.; her daughter, the Honorable Jeannette Amanda McCarthy, Mayor of Waltham; her grandchildren Ana Stacia Porter of Waltham, Aimee Sueltenfuss and her husband, Patrick, of Wilmington and Charles D. McCarthy of Florida; her great-grandchildren Aarika Batista, Isaiah Alvarado and Avery Sueltenfuss; her brother and sisters, Peter Bourque of Bedford, Eileen Cincotta and Marie Hancock, both of Waltham; her brother-in-law, Edward Davidson Fallon and many nieces, nephews and cousins
Jeannette was the mother of the late Charles R. McCarthy, Jr. and Kathleen Beatrice McCarthy and mother-in-law of the late Cheryl McCarthy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jeannette's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, February 18th from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
