Waltham - Jeannette Ryberg had a pleasant, friendly, warm and affable way, an easy approach and engaging personality. Perhaps it's why she was a fixture at Waltham City Hall as its receptionist and even in the last months of her life while a resident at Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norwood where she was a much loved resident by the entire staff and residents. She died Friday, January 8, 2016. Jeannette was 86.
Jeannette was born March 28, 1929 in Newton a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Delaney) LeLievre. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of St. Mary's High School with the class of 1947. She married Paul A. Ryberg on September 2, 1950 in Saint Mary's Church….. Paul died on July 5, 2001.
Jeannette began working at the former Waltham Telephone Company. After staying at home to raise her children she worked as a receptionist for over 15 years at Digital Corporation. Retirement from Digital afforded her an opportunity to work part-time as receptionist and greeter at Waltham City Hall. For Jeannette it wasn't necessarily work….rather an opportunity to be social and help direct people and she did this well into her early 80's.
Social by nature she loved her family and friends, dancing with Paul at the French Club and other venues, travelling, reading and taking cruises. When she turned 80 years old she 'did it her way' and took her entire family on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate and it's a memory her family will forever cherish.
She leaves her children, Gale A. Joyal and her husband, Steve of Burlington, Paul 'Cy' A. Ryberg of Smerna, Georgia, Thomas J. Ryberg and his wife, Diane of Waltham, Jane E. Cappadona and her husband, Paul of Wilmington, North Carolina, Joyce E. Maillet and her husband, Paul of Waltham and Jodie L.
