Mr. Jeff Yihsiang Chin, of Wayland, died tragically while on vacation with his family in Hawaii. He was 58.
Jeff was born in Tainan, Taiwan on May 31, 1961, the youngest of three children to Tsai-Luang Wang and the late Chung-Ching Chin. On September 28, 1988, he married Debbie Huineng Chen in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to the United States where they lived in Waltham briefly before settling in Wayland where they would raise their children. He earned his bachelor's degree at Taiwan National University and worked as a software engineer at Verizon for over twenty years after moving to the United States.
Jeff embodied many of the best qualities: intelligent, humble, approachable, thoughtful, patient, selfless. The list continues. His smile brought warmth and comfort to those around him. He was a loyal friend and devoted family man, whose support was unconditional. He looked for the good in every person and brought out the best in each of us. He enjoyed cooking and baking especially when it brought happiness to others. In his downtime, he took comfort in napping with the family cat, Ichigo.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Huineng Chen; his children, Sheryl Chin and Arthur Chin and wife Amy Cheng; his siblings, Jim Chin and Nina Chin, and his niece Jenny Lo.
Family and friends will celebrate and remember Jeff's life by gathering together for calling hours from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 29th in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by his funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial is private.
