Jennifer Smallwood, of Waltham, died on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital following a prolonged illness.
At 33 years old, Jennifer was a lifelong resident of Waltham. She was the daughter of Beverley (Morris) Smallwood and the late George Smallwood. Jennifer was the devoted sister to Brian Smallwood and the beloved niece of William Morris.
She graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in Newton in 2009. After high school, Jennifer pursued her culinary talents and fully enjoyed being an executive chef. She shined as a cuisine enthusiast.
Sports, especially hockey, were a constant passion. Jennifer played hockey from when she was four years old, usually as the only girl on the team. She continued her love for hockey by coaching the Waltham Youth Hockey team. She continued to demonstrate her athletic talents on the soccer field. Jennifer’s love and enthusiasm for the sport earned her the name “Sparky” from her coaches and teammates. Her nickname followed her to the Nipper Maher baseball field and the Babe Ruth baseball field. She enjoyed her position as shortstop and catcher, which she began playing at Trinity.
Jennifer’s favorite vacation destination was always Lake Winnipesaukee. She also had a great love for the White Mountains. Jennifer had a lifelong love for animals, especially her beagle Bonnie who remained a loving companion during her illness. Her face would light up with Bonnie’s tail wagging and constant licks.
Jennifer’s memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of those who knew her. May her soul peacefully join her Heavenly Father.
. . . "Goodbyes are not forever and not the end. I will miss you until we meet again.”
