Waltham - Jesús Salazar Montufar died at home on Thursday, October 24, 2019 after an illness. She was 63.

Jesús was born January 2, 1956 in Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala a daughter of the late Matilde Salazar and Margarita Montufar. Raised and educated in Guatemala she immigrated to the United States in 1999 and had lived in Waltham her last seven years. She was married to Victor Manuel Garcia until his death on February 3, 1995.

She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, love for dancing and talents in the kitchen when she cooked. Her faith was very important to her…and the foundation of her life. She loved God always and forever. A member of Saint Columbkille Church in Brighton Jesús was a faithful communicant and enjoyed the many friendships she made at church. Shopping was always a fun outing for Jesús and shoe purchases were always the priority.

Jesús loved her family both here in the Boston area and in her native home of Guatemala She remained especially close to the Mejia, Calderas and Nunez families.

She leaves her children, Alba Garcia (Roger) of Newtonville, Marleny Garcia (Byron Estrada) of Waltham, Roxana Garcia of Waltham, twins Carin Garcia of Waltham and Cristian Garcia (Wendy Romero Garcia) of Newtonville; her grandchildren, Alexander Sanchez, Diego, Justin, Christian Rivera, Kobe and Mia Estrada, Massiel Aquino, Julian Palma, Jaslin, Jeyline and Kayleigh Garcia, Luis Romero and Christian Garcia; siblings, Gabriel Salazar of East Boston, Alejandro and Santos Salazar of Los Angeles, Elias and Dario Salazar of Waltham, Pablo Salazar in Guatemala, Hercilia Salazar (Francis Mejia) of Guatemala, Hortencia Salazar (Rolando Nunez) of East Boston and Macańa Salazar in Guatemala; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jesús' life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, October 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Columbkille's Church, 321 Market Street, Brighton where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Waltham - Jesús Salazar Montufar murió en su casa el jueves 24 de octubre de 2019 después de una enfermedad. Ella tenía 63 años.

Jesús nació el 2 de enero de 1956 en Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala, hija de Matilde Salazar y Margarita Montufar. Criada y educada en Guatemala, emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1999 y vivió en Waltham los últimos siete años. Estuvo casada con Víctor Manuel García hasta su muerte el 3 de febrero de 1995.

Será recordada por su risa contagiosa, su amor por el baile y por su gran pasión en la cocina. Su fe era muy importante para ella .. y la base de su vida. Ella amaba a Dios sobre toda las cosas. Un miembro de la Iglesia de Saint Columbkille en Brighton Jesús fue un comunicante fiel y disfrutó de las muchas amistades que hizo en la iglesia. Irse de compras siempre fue divertido para Jesús. Su prioridad siempre fue su familia, Jesús siempre quiso que su familia estuviera unida y siempre feliz.

Familiares y amigos honrarán y recordarán la vida de Jesús reuniéndose durante horas en The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham el miércoles 30 de octubre de 4 a 8 p.m. y nuevamente a las 9:15 a.m. del jueves por la mañana antes de partir en procesión a la Iglesia de Saint Columbkille, 321 Market Street, Brighton, donde se celebrará su misa fúnebre a las 10:30 a.m.
