Joan E. (Ford) Cappellucci, of Watertown, died Friday, February 21, 2025 at Sawtelle Family Hospice Home in Reading. She was 94.
Joan was born in Brighton on January 17, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Anna (Kenney) Ford. She was a 1949 graduate of Watertown High School and furthered her education at The School of Fashion Design on Newbury Street in Boston.
She was a talented and skilled designer and seamstress. She owned Joan-A-Lucci Bridal in Waltham where she made many stunning creations. She also owned and operated her sewing school in Watertown. Her talents went beyond the sewing machine; she was an accomplished artist and sculptor and enjoyed creating antique dolls which she showcased in competitions.
She was the wife of the late John T. Cappellucci, mother of the late Mary, Susan, and Patricia Cappellucci and a sister of the late Ann Goulet, Claire Butler, Janet Studley, Robert Ford, Marion Fulton and James Ford.
Joan leaves her children, Kathleen A. Bankston (David) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Michael J. Cappellucci (Teresa Dawson) of Gilmanton, New Hampshire, John T. “Rusty” Cappellucci, Jr. (Ann) of Wayland, Laura M. Cappellucci of Las Vegas, Nevada, and James E. Cappellucci (Debra Whelihan) of Pocasset; her grandchildren, Susan Bankston, Jessica White, Amanda Bankston, Michael, Angela Cappellucci, John and Grace Cappellucci; Andrew, Paige and Matthew Bedsun, Lisa and Maria Cappellucci, Erin, Tara and Katie Cappellucci; her great grandchildren, Reagan and Dallas White and Aurora Chavez; her siblings, Pauline Bales of Grayson, Georgia, Eileen St. Onge of Watertown, John ‘Jack’ Ford of Waltham and Eleanor Rooney of Reading and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joan's life by gathering for an Evening Wake at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, March 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning when her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
