Waltham - Miss Joan F. Gillis, of Waltham, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in,Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 49.
Joan was born on February 22, 1963, a daughter of the late Neil and Jane (Mort) Gillis. She was a lifelong Waltham resident and had worked as a home health aide.
She leaves her sister, Catherine A. McMurtry, and her husband, Robert, of Waltham; her brother, Neil D. Gillis, and his wife, Patricia, of Hudson; her niece, Kimberly Lento; her nephews, John Rice, Michael Gillis and Thomas Petrulavage; her grand-niece and nephew, Ava Petrulavage and Matthew Petrulavage; and her dear friend, Tracy McAvoy and her husband, Brian, and their children, Elizabeth and Kevin McAvoy, all of Waltham.
Joan was also a sister of the late Judith A. Haines and Mary Jane Rice.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joan's life by gathering for a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18th, in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham.
