Mrs. Joan (Longleway) Salamone, of Waltham, died Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Aberjona Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Winchester. She was 85.
Joan was born on June 29, 1938, a daughter of the late Frank and Cecilia Longleway. Raised in Lexington, she graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1956. She married Benedetto Salamone in 1978. Joan worked for over fifteen years as an executive assistant to the president of Bentley University, Gregory Adamian.
Among her many talents, she was a highly skilled seamstress who enjoyed making original pieces for family, friends, and those in need. In her youth, she was an accomplished cellist and equestrian. In her later years, Joan’s passions included calligraphy, gardening, volunteering with animals, and Tom Brady.
In addition to her husband of 45 years, Ben, she leaves their son, Lou Salamone of Brooklyn, New York and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joan’s life by gathering on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lexington. There are no calling hours.
