Waltham – Miss Joan M. Walsh, of Waltham, died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home following a period of declining health. She was 87.
Joan was born in Worcester on August 19, 1934, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Ford) Walsh. She moved with her family to Waltham as a teen where they became lifelong members of Saint Jude Parish.
She was a graduate of Rosary Academy in Watertown and received her bachelor's degree from Lesley College in Cambridge. Joan later earned a master's degree in English from Boston College. Until her retirement she was a kindergarten teacher for the Waltham school system spending most of her career at the Jonathan Bright School.
She leaves her cousin, Virginia Breen and her husband, Ron, of Arlington.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joan's life by gathering to visit at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
