Waltham – Mrs. Joanne A. (Allen) Foster, of Waltham, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was 80.
Joanne was born in Waltham on September 2, 1929, a daughter of the late George E. and Anna Mae (Manning) Allen and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and until her retirement had worked in administration at Waltham Hospital.
She was an active member of Saint Jude Parish in Waltham where she and her late husband, Arthur C. Foster who died in April, 1996, were longtime members of the Couples Club. Joanne had also been a member of the parish Ladies Sodality. She remained active by bowling with the Wal-Lex Bowling League in Waltham and frequently playing tennis with friends. Joanne found her greatest joy however raising her children and cherishing time spent with her grandchildren.
She leaves her children, David A. Foster and his wife, Lauren, of Prosper, Texas, Barbara A. Foster of Waltham, Katherine E. Warren, M.D. and her husband, Tom, of Darnestown, Maryland, Kimberly J. Kotsiras and her husband, George, of Marlborough and Tracey P. Foster of Waltham; her grandchildren, Greg, Melissa and Rachael Foster, Kelsey and Jamie Warren and Christina, Zachary and Sydney Kotsiras; her sister, Patricia Boynton of Chamberlain, Maine; her brothers, George ‘Ed’ Allen of Henniker, New Hampshire and William Allen of Woburn and many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was also a sister of the late Barbara Marchand.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joanne’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
