Waltham – Joanne M. (Bossi) True, of Waltham, died peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Meadow Green Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 89.
Joanne was born in Stoneham on June 20, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Linda (Taylor) Bossi. She was raised in West Roxbury an after graduating from Roslindale High School she attended Lasell Junior College in Newton. She was a wonderful mother and enjoyed spending time with them, especially on yearly visits to Ocean Park, Maine.
A Waltham resident for more than fifty-five years she was a stay at home Mom before going to work as a librarian at the Waltham Public Library. Joanne loved all sorts of music and became a talented watercolor artist. She also taught for a time in Waltham's ESL program and had long been active at First Parish Church in Waltham where she was a member of the HUGG group. Under her son Jim's tutelage she became an accomplished student of Tai Chi.
She leaves her children, James A. True, Jr. of Maynard, Judy M. True of Brentwood, New Hampshire, Juliet M. Crandell (Barry) of Waltham, Jane M. True of Waltham, John A. True (Brenda) of Holliston and Joseph A. True (Claudine) of Hudson; her grandchildren, Derek Crandell, Nickole Johanson (Ryan), Noel True (Ilario DeMasi), Leah, Andrea, Thomas, Lauren and Kelsey True; her great-grandchildren, Dylan and Cameron Johanson and Logan and Skylar DeMasi and her former husband, James A. True of Waltham.
She was also the grandmother of the late Rachelle Crandell and sister of the late Carolyn A. Hadge.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joanne's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, March 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 17th in First Parish Church of Waltham, 50 Church Street, Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m.
