Joella N. Griggs

Waltham – Mrs. Joella N. (Murphy) Griggs, of Waltham, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston. She was 70.

Joella was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on February 6, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Irene M. (Coughlin) Murphy, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. Until her retirement she had worked for over forty years as a bookkeeper for ARO Manufacturing in Newton. Joella was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1957 and she always enjoyed being around her family and her grandchildren.

She leaves her children, Ralph A. Griggs, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Hubbardston, Joseph P. Griggs and his wife, Donna, of Waltham and Deborah I. Cote and her husband, Robert, of Manchester, New Hampshire; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joella was also the sister of the late Michael Murphy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joella’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
