John J. Almeida

Waltham- Mr. John J. Almeida, of Waltham, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home. He was 82.

John was born in Somerville on February 26, 1929, and had lived for many years in Waltham. Until his retirement, he had worked as a technician for the Raytheon Corporation for over forty years. He was also a Korean War Veteran serving in the United Sates Navy.

John was the husband of the late Gloria S. (Beninati) Almeida who died July, 9, 2010 and the brother of the late Fred and Manuel Almeida.

He leaves two daughters, Cheryl Ann Gonsalves and her husband, Jim, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Theresa Almeida of Waltham, his sister, Dorothy Connolly of California, his grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Kevin, Kymberly, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
