Waltham – Mr. John E. Ashe, of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 30, 2015. He was 68, born on February 9, 1946 in Springfield, MA.
John was a loving son and was predeceased by his father John L. Ashe and step-mother Anne of Waltham, and his mother Dorothy (Allen) Moriarty and step-father Thomas of Springfield. He was the brother of the late Thomas M. Ashe of Miami, Florida.
Raised and educated in Springfield, where he attended Classical High School, he moved to Waltham. He became the Vice President of A & F Typewriter before working for Friden Neopost in Burlington, as Service Manager where he won many achievement awards.
John was instilled with a strong work ethic and throughout his life worked diligently and lovingly to provide for his family. He was a kind man with a warm and generous heart, always looking out for others. If anyone needed a hand with anything, John was there.
In his spare time he enjoyed his grandchildren and his family and took great pleasure fishing in upstate New York and especially at White Pond in Concord.
He is survived by his wife, Mary 'Maureen' (Centola) Ashe; his children, Sherry O'Brien and her husband, Gary, of Thorndike, Brian Ashe of Arizona, John Ashe and his wife, Chloie of Washington, Michael Ashe of Waltham and Kimberly Dowcett and her husband, Joseph, of Waltham; his grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Ian, Tristan, Derek and Ashley; his siblings Gerald Moriarty and his wife, Darlene, of Texas, Diane Moriarty of Springfield, Leslie Ashe Angelo and her husband, Robert, of Malden, Liam Moriarty of Springfield; his brother-in-law Decio Sales-Filho of Miami and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
