Waltham - Mr. John Donald Campbell, of Waltham, formerly of Watertown, died, Thursday December 25, 2014 at Wingate of Boston surrounded by family. He was 84.
Donald was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on April 12, 1930, a son of the late John Duncan and Mary Belle (MacKinnon) Campbell and moved to the States when he was 28.
Donald was a welder by trade and had worked at H.H. Scott in Maynard, E.C. Hilliard Co. in West Newton and at the age of 65 retired from J.J. Fabricators Co. in Waltham. He was devoted to his family and his faith and had been a parishioner of St. Jude Church in Waltham for many years.
Donald was the fun uncle and was simply referred to as "Unk". He was caring, always upbeat and was there for anyone in need of anything, especially his dear nieces and nephews and their families who he leaves behind.
He was the brother of the late Theresa Mooney, Katherine Anne Hawley, John Willie Campbell, Francis Campbell, Colin Campbell, John Angus Campbell, John Duncan Campbell, Annie Puzak, Mary Meagher, Dan Charles Campbell and Joseph Campbell.
Family and friends will honor and remember Donald's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
