Weston – Mr. John J. Cappello, of Weston, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 91.
John was born January 4, 1926 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania a son of the late Italian immigrants Fortunato and Jennie (Nicolazzo) Cappello. Raised and educated in Newton he graduated from Newton High School and later earned an associate degree from Bentley University. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the 10th Mountain Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Clara M. John was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant for over 50 years before retiring in 2007.
When not preparing tax returns or offering financial tax advice he always had a project on hand in the home or yard. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed time with his fishing pole in the water…either fresh or salt water. His home was always the center for his large family to gather and he made certain no one who ever entered left hungry. He would tell anyone that would listen that his grandchildren were by far the best looking and smartest grandchildren ever. Active in Saint Julia's Parish he utilized his accounting skills as a longtime collector of the offertory and its counting.
