John J. Crosby

Chesapeake, VA – Mr. John J. Crosby of Chesapeake, Virginia, died March 12, 2011 at Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 88.

John was born in Boston on October 5, 1922, a son of the late Martin L. and Mary R. (McDonald) Crosby. During World War II John served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a mailroom supervisor at Keystone Custodian Fund which later became the M.F.S. Company for his entire career.

He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Cayon) Crosby.

He leaves his son John J. Crosby Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Chesapeake, VA, and his grandchildren Rachel and Emily Crosby. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Florence Norrman and Marie Nichols.

Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. Mary’s Church, 133 School St., Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
