Waltham – Mr. John J. Dacey, Sr., of Waltham, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Country Gardens Nursing Center in Swansea. He was 93. Born in Waltham on March 6, 1915, a son of the late John F. and Agnes (Mannix) Dacey, John had been a lifelong resident. During World War II he had served with the United States Army Air Corps. Until his retirement John had worked for many years for the First National Stores and after that he worked as a security guard at Deaconess Waltham Hospital. He was also a lifelong parishioner at Saint Mary's Church where he had been a member of the parish council and acolyte. John had also been a former member of VFW Post No. 2152 in Waltham. The husband of the late Mary C. (White) Dacey, he leaves his son, John J. Dacey, Jr. and his wife, Louise, of Fall River; his grandchildren, Catherine Lavoie of Fall River and Joseph Dacey of Waltham; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John was also a brother of the late Francis A. 'Doc' Dacey, Eugene Dacey, Mary Parker, Helen McKenzie and Loretta Farrell. Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning prior to the Funeral Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Mary's Restoration Fund, 133 School Street, Waltham, MA 02451.
