Waltham – Mr. John G. Danielson, of Waltham, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 80. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Gunnar and Lillian (Lindgren) Danielson, John had been a lifelong resident. During World War II, he served with the United States Army Air Corps. He worked as a self-employed painting contractor and belonged to the Painting and Decorators Contractors of America Association. John was a graduate of Waltham High School and attended his 60th year reunion last year. He was also a lifelong and active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waltham where he served as a council member and member of the Nelson Board. John was also a 32nd Degree Mason Knights of Templar and received his 50 year pin last year. He enjoyed wood-working and home repair and enjoyed spending summers with his family in Maine where they had a cabin. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Constance E. (Abbott) Danielson; his children, Paul A. and Mark A. Danielson both of Watertown, and Jane F. Danielson of Waltham; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Danielson; and his grandchildren, Christina and Eric Danielson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, cor. of Eddy and Weston Sts., Waltham. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham.
