Waltham Mr. John J. Dawson, Jr., of Waltham and Manomet, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his home. He was 59. John was born in Brighton on July 25, 1950, a son of the late John J., Sr. and Marie (Doyle) Dawson, and had been a lifelong Waltham resident. He was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and Suffolk University in Boston. Until his retirement John worked as a corrections officer for twenty years at the Massachusetts Correctional Facility in Concord. He was a member and trustee of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Lexington and spent many happy days fishing and lobstering on his boat off the coast of Manomet. John leaves his daughters, Kelly M., Maureen A. and Meagan M. Dawson, all of Waltham. Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11:30 a.m. on Friday morning when his funeral service will be held.
