Maynard - Mr. John J. Devlin Jr., of Maynard, formerly of Waltham died on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was 81.
Born on August 3, 1936 in Medford he was a son of the late John J. and Ruth (Browne) Devlin Sr. Raised and educated in Medford High School and married Mildred E. Furdon. They lived many years in Waltham and shortly after Mildred's death in 1999 he moved to Maynard. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
For over 40 years John worked as a truck driver for the Department of Public Works for the City of Waltham before retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Waltham/Watertown Lodge of Elks #953, Waltham Moose Lodge #1018, Newton Council Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and all the New England sports teams.
He leaves his sons, John J. Devlin III of Hudson and Michael F. Devlin and his wife, Lisa of Waltham; his grandchildren Adam, Carley, Emily Devlin, all of Hudson and Brendan and Shane Devlin of Waltham; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, July 8th from 4 to 7 pm. and again on Monday morning where his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 11th.
