Waltham – Mr. John P. ‘Chickie’ Feeney, of Waltham, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 67.
Chickie was born in Cambridge on February 9, 1944, a son of the late Manuel and Ethel (Polley) Duarte, and had been a Waltham resident for the past fifty-three years. Until his retirement he worked as a bricklayer for the City of Cambridge.
Antique cars were a passion and a hobby for Chickie and he was a proud owner of a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. During summers he could be found frequenting area car shows with his prize possession. He was also a member of the Cambridge Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps and the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Judi A. (Shea) Feeney; his children, Caroline A. Feeney of Boston, Shawn P. Feeney and his wife, Jill, of Melrose and Colleen E. Tilley and her husband, Michael, of Waltham; his grandchildren, Jack and Ryan Feeney; his sisters, Kitty Crowley and her husband, Bob, of Sagamore Beach and June Ann Duarte and her partner, Linda Ferrari, of New Bedford and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Chickie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 17th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
