Mr. John V. Forkin of Waltham died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 86. John was born in Waltham on June 7, 1923, a son of the late James and Laura (Kilbride) Forkin. He lived in Watertown before moving to Waltham fifty- six years ago. John was employed as a salesman for the S.S. Pierce Company for many years until his retirement. He was very active at Boston College where he graduated in 1949. John was a World War veteran who served in the U.S. Army. John is survived by his wife, Joann E. (Dorey) Forkin, his children, Joanne E. Forkin and her husband, Mark Loudermilch, and Mary T. Forkin of Tyngsboro and his grandson, Max Loudermilch. He was the brother of the late Rev. Gerald J. Forkin, O.M.I. Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday from 4-7 pm and again at 9 am on Saturday before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am.
