Weston Mr. John P. Gallagher of Weston, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 77. Born in Boston, a son of the late John and Mary (Clasby) Gallagher, he was a lifelong resident of Waltham before recently moving to Weston. John was a 1947 graduate of Waltham High School and had attended Boston University. He served as a sergeant with the United States Army during the Korean War. Until his retirement, John worked for thirty-eight years at Waltham Vocational High School, most recently as senior custodian, and had been a security guard for twenty-five years at Waltham Hospital. He was a member of the Waltham Municipal Employees Association, the Massachusetts Municipal Employees Association, the Friends of the Waltham Museum and the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham. He had been a former member of the Waltham Knights of Columbus, the Gov. David I. Walsh Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Saint Marys Holy Name Society. John also served on the advisory board for the Waltham Vocational Education Program. He leaves his wife, Pauline A. (Ashness) Gallagher; his children, Maureen A. Taddeo and her husband Stephen of Waltham, John P. Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Judith of Tyngsboro, Timothy P. Gallagher and his wife Dianne of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Andrea M. Hoffer and her husband Douglas of Pepperell, Matthew D. Gallagher and his wife Kara of Simsbury, Connecticut and Mark C. Gallagher of Waltham; his grandchildren, John P., III, Erin, Andrew, Jeffrey, Kaleigh, Corey and Kevin Gallagher, Alison and Caroline Hoffer; his sisters, Catherine OReilly and Margaret Gallagher both of Waltham and Mary Joyce of Onset; and many nieces nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 8 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
