Mr. John F. 'Jack' Hartnett of Waltham died Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Care Dimensions Hospice Residence in Lincoln. He was 75.
Jack was born on October 9, 1946 in Malden a son of the late John F. and Loretta (Pietkiewicz) Hartnett. Raised in Arlington he graduated from Arlington High School. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Cambridge native Sally A. Haviland in Saint Peter's Church in Cambridge on October 7, 1972. Longtime Cambridge residents they made Waltham their home in 1996.
Jack worked over thirty years as a collector for the Boston Gas Company, retiring in 2008.
He loved his trips and time spent on vacation in the White Mountains in Bartlett New Hampshire and Wells, Maine. He enjoyed working around the house and in his yard.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, Sally, he leaves his children, Jonathan M. Hartnett (Maureen) of Duxbury and Holly A. Miskell (Dale) of Woburn; his grandchildren, Shane, Fiona and Ciara Hartnett, Kaden and Ryan Miskell; his sister-in-law, Karen Hartnett of Westford. Brother of the late Peter, Wayne, Bruce and Dana Hartnett; also survived by nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, July 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
