John W. Johnson

Mr. John W. Johnson of Waltham died Thursday February 10, 2005 at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 91. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late John and Selma (Ostrand) Johnson, he was a produce manager for many years for the Star Market Corporation. Mr. Johnson was a head usher for many years for The First Lutheran Church in Waltham, Past President of the Swedish Charitable Society in Newton, he was on the Board of the Scandanavian Charitable Society, a member of the Waltham Lodge of Masons, a former chaplain for the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Viking Club in Braintree. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army. The husband of the late Virginia (Sundquist) Johnson, he leaves one daughter, Karin E.Shirley and her husband John of West Newton, one brother, Herbert Johnson of Michigan, one sister, Ethel Doten of Springfield, two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at The First Lutheran Church, cor. of Weston and Eddy Streets, Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to The First Lutheran Church, 6 Eddy Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
