John C. Kalakowsky

Weston - John C. Kalakowsky, D.M.D., of Weston, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 61.

Dr. Kalakowsky was born in South Boston on June 10, 1948, the oldest child and only son of the late Charles and Stella (Shukis) Kalakowsky, and had lived in Weston for more than twenty-five years. He was raised in Tewksbury where he was a graduate of the local high school and after that he earned a degree at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Dr. Kalakowsky graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in 1974 and spent the next two years serving as a United States Navy lieutenant and staff dentist at the Naval Air Station in Orlando, Florida.

After leaving the service he established a dental practice on Main Street in Waltham that he had maintained for the past thirty-one years. Dr. Kalakowsky was a member of American Legion Headquarters Post No. 462 in Boston, the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society.

He leaves his wife of 37 years, Ruth J. (Pilicy) Kalakowsky; his children, Erin R. Abraham and her husband, Nicko, of Weston, Adam W. Kalakowsky and his wife, Erin, of Framingham and Ashley J. Kalakowsky of Weston; his grandchildren, Xava, Erys, Nicko John and Boden Abraham and Liam Kalakowsky; his sisters, Cathy McLean of Tewksbury and Carol Carpentier of Warren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
