Mr. John E. Maxwell, of Ludlow, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Wingate at Wilbraham. He was 83.
John was born in Somerville on July 2, 1928 a son of the late John W. and Mabel S. (Sherwin) Maxwell. He was a resident of Waltham for 80 years, before moving to Ludlow in 2008.
He worked as an expert service man for Jenny Oil Company for many years before retiring in December 1991. He was an avid fisherman, an inventor & extraordinary craftsman. He was a great husband, an awesome uncle, a wonderful brother-in-law and a good friend to many.
John is predeceased by his wife, Virginia E. (Thompson) Maxwell and his brother, Robert A. Maxwell. He is now with his beloved wife in peaceful harmony.
He is survived by nieces J'nanne Maxwell of Ludlow, MA & Carol Feser of Frederick, MD; sister in laws, Gwen Rich of Hudson, MA, Janet LaPorte of Rutland, MA & Norma Newman of New Smyrna Beach, FL. He is also survived by his brother's second wife Alexandra Maxwell, and nieces Sandra Dvorak, Elizabeth Brooks, and nephews Lee A.Maxwell and Robert A. Maxwell of PA.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember John's life on Thursday, December 29th, 2011 in Mount Feake Cemetery where his graveside service will be held at 11AM.
