Watertown – Mr. John J. 'Jack' Mehigan, of Watertown, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Wingate at Brighton. He was 76.
Jack was born in Cambridge on February 22, 1936, a son of the late James and Norah (O'Connell) Mehigan. He was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Saint John's High School in North Cambridge. Jack and his family moved to Watertown more than forty-four years ago. Until his retirement he was the proprietor of New England Tire Company in Waltham.
He served with the United States Marine Corps and had been a member and past commander of the United American Veterans in Cambridge. Jack was also a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 953 in Waltham.
He leaves his wife of more than fifty-two years, Susan J. (Peacock) Mehigan; his daughter, Susan A. Spagnuolo and her husband, David, of Newark, Delaware; his grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick and Sydney Spagnuolo; his sister, Mary Brown and her husband, Larry, of Santa Barbara, California and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was also the father of the late John D. Mehigan and brother of the late James Mehigan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, February 4th, from 3 to 5 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
