John J. Ryan

Waltham – Mr. John J. Ryan of Waltham died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 in Caritas Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Brighton. He was 75. A lifelong Waltham resident, Mr. Ryan was the Superintendent of the Highway Department for the Town of Weston until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Ryan was a former Waltham Police Officer as well as the former owner of J.J. Ryan Construction Company in Waltham. Mr. Ryan was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ryan was the son the late John J. and Ida (Berrigan) Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maureen T. ( Maroney ) Ryan; his children, James M. Ryan and his wife Suzanne, of Hudson, John P. Ryan of Waltham, Maureen T. DiBona and her husband Anthony, of Framingham, and Carolyn Leonelli and her husband Russ, of Sudbury; his sisters, Marilyn Stanton of Waltham, Margaret Bodio of Milton NH, and Alice Mitchell of Natick; 5 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.
