John M. Scalzi

Waltham - Mr. John M. Scalzi of Waltham died Friday, January 27th at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after injuries sustained from an automobile accident. He was 61. Mr. Scalzi was a longtime resident of Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School. He worked in Quality Control for the B.C. Ames Company for many years. John was very active in St. Mary’s Church where he was a lector and also taught Religious Education. John was very active in the local and civic activities in Waltham. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and traveling. Mr. Scalzi is the son of the late Dominick J. Scalzi. He is survived by his mother, Mary R. (Vardaro) Scalzi of Waltham; a sister, Patricia A. West and her husband Michael of Walpole; a niece Kristin Keating; two nephews, Michael and Bradford West and a great nephew Gregory Keating. The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m.. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Newton. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Mary’s Restoration Fund, 133 School Street, Waltham, MA 02451.
