Waltham – Mr. John M. Stanton, of Waltham, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Kindred Hospital, Brighton. He was 78.
Born in Waltham, a son of the late John J. and Mary (Halloran) Stanton, he had been a lifelong resident. John graduated from Waltham High School in 1947 and served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for forty-two years for the Boston Gas Company, retiring as a manager in 1991.
John leaves his wife, Maria (Savoy) Stanton; his children, Michael J. Stanton and his wife, Patti, of Westwood, Lynne M. Stanton of Waltham and Lisa J. Martin and her husband, John of Peachtree City, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kelli Anne Stanton, David and Jeffrey Freeman, and Joshua, Aimee, Kristina and Michelle Martin; his great-grandchildren, Zachary and Cameron Freeman and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Bertha ‘Betty’ Nix and Richard Stanton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John’s Funeral at 9 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
