John P. 'Jack' Tierney

September 29, 1942 — March 7, 2011

Waltham – Mr. John P. ‘Jack’ Tierney, of Waltham, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 68.

Jack was born in Waltham on September 29, 1942, a son of the late J. Paul and Mary (Lowrey) Tierney, and had been a lifelong resident. He was a 1960 graduate of Waltham High School and attended Northeastern University. After college Jack served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as an accountant until his retirement.

He leaves his wife, Roberta A. ‘Bunny’ (Kavanaugh) Tierney; his daughter, Ann E. Tierney of Waltham; his sister, Paula Derome of Wareham and two nephews, Chris and Jon Derome.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jack’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, March 11th, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Food Pantry, 311 River Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
