Joong Kim

Mr. Joong Kim, of Malden, died Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 78.

He was born on February 22, 1945 in Jeonju, South Korea a son of the late Moonam Kim and Bonggil Yang and immigrated to the United States in 1994. He worked as a construction manager.

Joong enjoyed playing golf, watching Joshua’s ice hockey games and travelling.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Jeong Yang Choi; his daughters, Soo Kim Wang of Winchester, Jeongeun Kim of Wellsley and Jennifer Choi of Wayland; his grandchildren Joshua Wang, Ellie Wang, Cyurie Kim, Cyumin Kim, Jacob Choi, Jeremy Choi and Julian Joseph Choi; siblings Donghee Kim, Hyosook Kim, Hyomin Kim, Jin Kim, Sil Kim, Sujung Kim & Guang Kim.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joong’s life on Monday, August 28th for visitation from 10 - 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20), WALTHAM, followed by his service at 11 a.m. Procession to Mount Auburn Crematory in Cambridge will follow.
