Chelsea - Mr. Joseph A. "Tony" Pineau, of Chelsea, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 82.
Mr. Pineau was born in Waltham on November 8, 1931, a son of the late Alexander and Edna (Doiron) Pineau. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1949 and then went on to work for C. Malone Trucking in Waltham. Tony was very gifted with his hands and eventually became a member of the carpenters union.
He was very devoted to his family, especially his late beloved wife, Grace (Sullivan) Pineau, whom he met while she was working as a secretary for the union. Tony enjoyed trips to Revere Beach, always making a point to stop at Kelly's Roast Beef for a snack. He had a passion for golf and got out as much as he could. Tony loved spending time with his grandchildren and was so happy to meet his first great-granddaughter, Sarah.
He leaves his sons, Anthony "Toby" Pineau of Wilmington, Mark Pineau and his long- time companion, Charlie Roche, of Springfield, VA. and Lawrence Porter and his wife, Debra, of Stoneham; his grandchildren, Kari-Ann O'Brien, Katie Porter and Matthew Porter; his great-granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Cosgrove ; his siblings, Louise Kehoe, Veronica "Honey " Bilodeau, Raymond Pineau and Donna LeBlanc; and many nieces and nephews.
Tony was also the brother of the late Maurice "Mickey" Pineau, Theresa Picariello, and Jeanne Muzarol .
Family and friends will honor and remember Tony's life by gathering at a Memorial Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10 a.m.
