San Diego, California - Mr. Joseph P. Apruzzese, of San Diego, California and formerly of Waltham, died on October 19, 2016. He was 62.
Joey was born in Waltham on August 14, 1954, the son of the late Serafino and Angelina (Lembo) Apruzzese. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1973 where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team and was a yearbook photographer. Shortly after high school he made a new home in Southern California. For over 25 years he helped manage Cass St. Bar and Grill on Pacific Beach in San Diego. He had a passion for food, photography and classical music and loved to play his guitar whenever possible. He was a wonderful brother and uncle and looked forward to his trips back east where he and his family would spend time on Cape Cod.
He is survived by his sister, Angela Jesse of Waltham; his nephew and niece, Christopher Jesse of Waltham and Lisa Kosarka and her husband, Jeff, who reside in Atlanta, Georgia; his grand-niece Alexis, aunts and uncles, and many cousins. He had many dear friends in San Diego.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joey's life by gathering for calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
